Since I have been home on maternity leave I find myself picking apart every room in the house. I have so many ideas and projects I want to tackle. However, obviously my budget and limited free time at the moment holds me back a little. We are heading on vacation , so I have told myself no house updates until I return :). Once we get back the first project I want to tackle is our family room/ playroom. Although I feel like it is coming together, there are still a few spots that need adjusting.
I want to share with you my ideas and buying guide for what I am hoping will bring some toy organization and style back to this room.
Before I get into the toy organization I have a long wall that our couch is against that needs some help. My plan (which changes like the wind) is to put shelving on either side and then either do a collage wall in the middle above the couch, a large print or possibly move my large clock from the dining room to over the couch.
Here are some other signs that I love for around the house…
I have this sign already, and love it! The creator of Pink Lemon Decor does such great work… and I think she might like white as much as I do 🙂
I really want a clean look where we can throw all the bigger toys away each night. I have had my eye on these Ikea STUVA benches for awhile. I want to get two, and then throw some cute cushions on the top.
These are going to go under a big vintage chalkboard I have. Then above the benches I am going to hang these number baskets. I was originally going to buy these from Chapters, but then they sold out before I could get all 3 (silly me didn’t realize they weren’t sold together, ughhhh). Anyways, I did manage to find them on amazon and when they came they were the exact same as the Indigo ones!
I also love baskets like this with lids on them, I think they are great pieces to hide toys. And you can occasionally find them at winners or home goods.
Here are some inspiration photos of toy storage in family rooms/ playrooms that I love….
Once I’m done this project I will be sure to share before and after photos with you.
Wish me luck 🙂
